It towers high above both seas and is three feet narrow or less along great stretches. The Outer Sea has undercut it in large areas. Closer to Ool Hrusp the peninsula is covered with grassland and stunted trees. Along the curtain wall, however, it is barest rock.

When Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser are escaping the Sea-King’s Domain in the story When the Sea-King’s Away, great towering waves coming in from the Outer Sea crash into the Curtain Wall. The Tsunami collapses a half-mile of the Curtain Wall opening up a new passage between both seas.

The Land of the Eight Cities lies north of the Inner Sea across from Lankhmar continent. It is known for it’s forests.

It is difficult to tell exactly which cities in the stories are the Eight Cities for there are more than eight in the lands north of the Inner Sea. There are also Sarheenmar and Ilthmar on the eastern coast, but from the way things are phrased in The Snow Women, it seems these are considered to be eastern.

We do know from The Snow Women that Gnamph Nar, Mlurg Nar, Kvarch Nar are three of the Eight Cities. Also in other stories we learn that Ool Krut, Ool Hrusp, and Illik-Ving are three more of the eight. We still have two more cities to choose from. Since the Eight Cities are always mentioned as being forested, and we know from The Mer She that No-Ombrulsk is basically treeless as it lies too far north, we may choose to decide that No-Ombrulsk is not one of the Eight Cities leaving us with the following.

The Sinking Lands connect the continent of Lankhmar with the main continent, as well as divide the Inner Sea from the Eastern Sea. The Sinking Lands are a formation of light, porous rock that floats in the water. Due to geological activity beneath the Sinking Lands, released gas builds up under the formation and causes it to rise to the surface, providing a bridge between lands. When the gas builds up too much, the formation becomes unstable and wobbles, releasing the gas to the air and causing the formation to sink again. As such, travel across the Sinking Lands is never dependable and sometimes risky.
